I know, I know “what about Edward Scissorhands?!”
Friend, that was a long fucking time ago and, when weighed against the rest of his CGI drivel, too little.
This review really nails it. Burton’s a wounded little art nerd who never got over those mean kids in high school who taunted him and world’s failure to recognize his sensitive genius.
It’s Edward Gorey-lite; no balls, no snatch, no guts.
Every so often a set designer is overpromoted into the director’s chair.
That’s what we have here.
A friend’s sister who works at the UN invited me for their Friday cocktails. This is as close to the General Assembly as I was able to get. If you strain your head to the left you can almost catch Gaddafi finishing his speech.
It was the first time I’d been there and it’s as good as they say.
As if it was designed by the man who made your grandmother’s apartment. A relic in a perpetual 1955 idea of Modernity. A lot of potted plants, patterned carpets and travertine.
I expected everyone to dress like Don Draper but they were a mix of the young & good looking and aging bureaucrats with turkey waddles.

I’ve never tried Chick-Fillet but I’m told it’s good.
Other than that, only In&Out is defensible and the occasional Egg McMuffin.
